In his lifetime, Wright built hundreds of structures, wrote nearly two-dozen books and spread his brilliant wisdom through lectures and articles (and fantastic interviews!) all over the world. He’s someone we talk about, and will continue to talk about, for as long as architecture exists. His contribution to the field, his ability to create a sort of spiritual connection between humans, nature, and architecture through his work is incomparable. Using a uniquely collaborative process, the facility was built to meet the superior court’s needs. Its design objectives blended the need to create a safe and secure environment, while also incorporating an unusual visual art installation. The project’s designer, AECOM, determined the best material to meet this challenge was a woven metal mesh, which would integrate light-emitting diode (LED) technology. Images and video of the BIG Labyrinth have begun to appear on social media since it opened on July 4th at the National Building Museum (NBM) in Washington, DC.
